TufStuff™ TS1228 Two-Part Self-Leveling Rigid Polyurethane Sealant

Rigid two-part self-leveling polyurethane sealant for coating irregular structures and parts that require a rigid, waterproof, and abrasion-resistant seal.

Av-DEC TS1228 two-component injectable sealant ensures a structure's level of resistance to abrasion are maintained. TS1228, also known as TufStuff™, is formulated with polyurethane and forms a rigid coating on surfaces. When applied it produces a solid seal that completely protects the application surfaces and voids from oxidization, moisture, and corrosion. The two-component polyurethane corrosion inhibitor has been applied in the aviation industry to protect cargo bay tie-down areas and chemical toilets from corrosion. Its successful application is due to its quality and quick gel times when used.

Av-DEC certified TS1228 can be sprayed or injected onto surfaces to seal voids and intricately patterned assemblies from corrosion. Industry-leading original equipment manufacturers and service organizations currently use TS1228 for sealing components and quick repairs. COBHAM, the global avionics OEM and service providing giant, currently uses Av-DEC polyurethane sealant for regular maintenance and in corrosion prevention. Some reasons for using TS1228 include:

  • It is a non-hazardous sealant which eliminates volatile organic compounds (VOCs).
  • It provides a rigid, self-leveling seal over surfaces, which completely protects surfaces from moisture, water, various solvents and humidity.
  • Its application procedure is quite simple and easy to execute which speeds up repair and maintenance activities.
  • It passes the FAA 12-second vertical burn test, which makes it perfect for use in protecting interior surfaces of an aircraft.
  • It is highly resistant to wear and tear, which makes it a perfect sealant for surfaces experiencing increased traffic or use.

TS1228's advantageous features make it the sealant of choice across diverse industries. Choose from the standard TS1228 50cc cartridge or the 200cc option.

A Rigid Two-Part Polyurethane Sealant for Maximum Protection

Av-DEC two-part polyurethane corrosion inhibitor integrates the durability and flexibility that comes with the nature of its base material. When applied, it produces a weatherproof, self-leveling film that completely protects surfaces from abrasion. If intention is to keep surfaces that experience constant traffic from wear, then TS1228 is the sealant to use. COBHAM recommends the use of this rigid sealant to protect antenna edges from the wear and tear caused by flying debris during landings. The benefits from using this two-part polyurethane sealant include:

  • Protecting edges as an edge filler from debris which can cause excessive wear and structural damage.
  • As an environmental seal for voids, spaces, and irregular assemblies to stop corrosion.
  • A relatively quick cure time
  • A high resistance to chemicals and temperature fluctuations which protects external structures from corrosion.
  • Protects the structures and surfaces from corrosion located in areas that experience fluid exposure.
  • An efficient hardening seal on deteriorating structures and eliminates the need for costly replacements.

Recommended Areas of Application

Choose Av-DEC TS1228 two-part polyurethane sealant in diverse situations where abrasions and fluid flow are expected. The two-part formula is specifically designed to protect surfaces and structures in these locations. Av-DEC recommends using TS1228 on components and parts in the following locations to protect:

  • Bulkheads from corrosion.
  • Antenna connectors from wear.
  • Bathroom lavatories from flowing fluids.
  • Cabling assemblies from corrosive and abrasive environmental factors.
  • Cargo bay tie down areas from wear.
  • Original equipment manufacturers, repair service providers, and facility managers can use the non-hazardous TS1228 sealant in the following industries:
  • Aviation
  • Equipment Manufacturing
  • Automotive Industry
  • Home and Facility servicing
