Official HI-TAK PRS (HT3935-7) and Nut-clip Installation Training Video

This video describes the method for installation of Av-DEC HI-TAK Polyurethane Rolled Sealant (PRS) HT3935-7 linear gasket material for use between surfaces where moisture intrusion is a problem. The instructions also include the proper installation of nut clips.

Av-DEC HI-TAK® PRS® 12-Second Vertical and 15-Second Horizontal Burn Tests

Av-DEC's Flame-Retardant HI-TAK Polyurethane Rolled Sealants (PRS) pass the 12-second Vertical Bunsen Burner Test per 14 CFR Part 25, Appendix F, Part 1 (a)(1)(II) and the 15-second Horizontal Bunsen Burner Test per 14 CFR Part 25, Appendix F, Part 1 (a)(1)(IV) & (V). The 12-second vertical flammability test is one of the more stringent forms of flammability testing conducted on cabin and cargo materials. Each lot of Av-DEC Flame-Retardant sealant is tested using the vertical Bunsen burner method and the results are approved by an FAA Designated Engineering Representative. HI-TAK TAPE

A double-sided polyurethane rolled sealant with a fiberglass carrier used in the installation, repair, and maintenance of aircraft structures.

The HI-TAK PRS is not your average sealant. It is engineered to protect sensitive equipment, surfaces, and assemblies from the effects of corrosion while maintaining its integrity in extreme aviation environments. This makes it an excellent product for installing, repairing, and maintaining surfaces or components in both civil and military aircraft. Users can use HI-TAK PRS for corrosion protection when installing fasteners or to seal aircraft floor structures. When properly used, this PRS protects the aircraft's structures and, by extension, everyone on board.

HI-TAK PRS is the premier PRS product Av-DEC offers manufacturers, maintainers and repair service providers in the aviation industry. It was developed in the late 90s and was previously known as HI-TAK Tape. To date, Av-DEC PRS products including the HI-TAK double-sided PRS have been used as sealants in approximately 5000 aircraft making them highly trusted sealants for aviation applications. Use the HI-TAK PRS to take advantage of these benefits:

  • A simple application process allowing for an "apply-and-fly" approach that drastically reduces downtime.
  • A non-hazardous pre-cured sealant that leaves no residue behind during application and removal. This keeps the surface clean and ensures paint adhesion is not affected.
  • A double-sided sealant with tacky surfaces on both sides.
  • A pre-cured sealant that creates a complete seal against moisture and corrosion.

Engineered to Deliver Complete Protection

Av-DEC designed the HI-TAK PRS to be durable and provide complete protection against moisture. This makes the PRS capable of long-term use. The HI-TAK Double-sided PRS is built from polyurethane and integrates a fiber skeletal membrane. Both sides of the sealant are tacky, giving it great versatility in aviation repairs and component-installation tasks.

The HI-TAK PRS can be used as a pre-cured rolled sealant to create a moisture-proof barrier on surfaces that experience foot traffic. Users can also choose a die-cut option for use in creating gaskets to protect diverse structures and assemblies. The benefits of the innovative engineering behind HI-TAK PRS include:

  • Creating a protective seal during the installation of fasteners and on irregular surfaces susceptible to moisture ingress.
  • A durable protective seal for the aircraft and its components which maintains its integrity even when used in extreme flying conditions.
  • A double-sided sealant which, when applied under compression between surfaces or components, provides vibration- and noise-dampening effects.

A Versatile Sealant for Aviation Installation, Repairs, and Maintenance

The HI-TAK PRS can serve as a rolled sealant or as a gasket when die-cut accordingly. This increases its scope of application in the aviation industry. Many users choose to use the PRS to provide a protective seal when installing fasteners since fastener holes are susceptible to moisture ingress and often serve as the springboard for wider corrosion problems. The sealant also provides a high level of tack to most substrates and can be applied on irregular and painted surfaces.

HI-TAK PRS can be used as an environmental seal, to protect surfaces in extreme conditions without concern about its performance. An example of its durability for long-term use can be found in a 1999 case-study of the HI-TAK PRS. In this example, an Av-DEC customer successfully created a moisture barrier and prevented corrosion in the cargo bay areas and cabin areas of an aircraft for more than six years. Potential benefits of this PRS to installation, repairs, and maintenance include:

  • Enhanced, long-term protection of cargo bay areas from corrosion, allowing the aircraft to stay in service longer.
  • Complete protection against moisture and water ingress even for irregular surfaces.
  • Long-term protection capability while simultaneously reducing the impact on the environment, thanks to the use of non-hazardous materials.

Diverse Aviation Application Areas

HI-TAK PRS is a trusted product that is currently in use by original equipment manufacturers and service organizations to prevent corrosion. This product has successfully created a complete seal for the last 20 years when applied to the following areas and components:

  • Anchor nut gaskets
  • Antenna gasket fasteners
  • Cargo floorboards
  • Cargo bay area structures
  • Windshields/windows
