Official HI-TAK TufSeal (HT3000) and Nut-clip Installation

This video describes the method for installation of Av-DEC HI-TAK TufSeal HT3000. The instructions also include the proper installation of nut clips.

Av-DEC HI-TAK® PRS® 12-Second Vertical and 15-Second Horizontal Burn Tests

Av-DEC's Flame-Retardant HI-TAK Polyurethane Rolled Sealants (PRS) pass the 12-second Vertical Bunsen Burner Test per 14 CFR Part 25, Appendix F, Part 1 (a)(1)(II) and the 15-second Horizontal Bunsen Burner Test per 14 CFR Part 25, Appendix F, Part 1 (a)(1)(IV) & (V). The 12-second vertical flammability test is one of the more stringent forms of flammability testing conducted on cabin and cargo materials. Each lot of Av-DEC Flame-Retardant sealant is tested using the vertical Bunsen burner method and the results are approved by an FAA Designated Engineering Representative. Single-Sided PRS: HT3000FR Double-Sided PRS: HT3935-7FR

A pre-cured polyurethane rolled sealant (PRS) with a fiberglass carrier for corrosion prevention on aircraft structures used in extreme conditions.

The operational performance and safety of an aircraft can be heavily impacted by the ability to create a complete seal against moisture and corrosion. HI-TAK TufSeal polyurethane rolled sealant (PRS) creates a complete protective seal against corrosion for certain components and irregular surfaces on an aircraft. The product exhibits excellent sealing and enhanced resistance to vibrations when applied. For this reason, it is used as a permanent sealing solution by original equipment manufacturers as well as maintenance and repair service organizations worldwide.

HI-TAK TufSeal is a single-sided PRS, meaning it is tacky on only one side and easy to install in diverse conditions. The product is a pre-cured PRS and is applied without the need for a bonding agent. This, in turn, makes it easy to remove when scheduled inspections come due. Users can count on the product leaving behind no residue that may affect paint adhesion or emit hazardous substances. The choice of a spool of HI-TAK TufSeal for your sealing challenges offers the following benefits:

  • An apply-and-fly installation process that allows for a quick seal to avoid extended downtime.
  • A durable sealant that stays in its application position and perimeter under compression and vibration with minimal squeeze-out and no loss of adhesion.
  • An easy application and removal process which does not require the use of any special equipment.
  • High resistance to abrasion and external pressure, thus increasing protection for the aircraft's surface, frame, and structures.
  • A complete protective seal after application which keeps out moisture and corrosion on aircraft operating under extreme conditions for long durations.

Scientifically Engineered to Prevent Moisture Ingress and Corrosion

HI-TAK TufSeal is the result of years of deliberate corrosion-prevention research by the engineers at Av-DEC. The end product is a single-sided PRS solution made from polyurethane with a fiberglass carrier integrated into the sealant. The product is composed of a tacky surface on one side, and polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) on the other side. The PTFE backing is non-tacky, making the HI-TAK TufSeal the best solution to use in areas where extensive maneuverability is needed during application.

The product is pre-cured and can also be die-cut to serve as a gasket system if the need arises. This flame-retardant version of HI-TAK TufSeal is for use in areas where flame retardant properties are needed. Other benefits gained from its excellent engineering include:

  • A durable and reliable sealing solution which reduces repair and part replacement costs to the bare minimum.
  • The option of using it in roll form or as a die-cut sealant to create a complete barrier against moisture on a variety of surfaces.
  • Its pre-cured nature means no additional adhesive or solvent is needed for installation, speeding up the installation process and eliminating liquid mess.

Designed Specifically for Quick Installation

The PTFE backing of HI-TAK TufSeal is a result of the PRS being designed for single-sided applications. This, alongside its polyurethane material is why it make a perfect material in high-traffic areas, to protect irregular surfaces where abrasion may occur, and where there is a need to repeatedly reposition panels. Among others, users can use HI-TAK TufSeal to provide a total protective seal on the following areas and components:

  • Access panels
  • Under floorboards
  • Under lavatories
  • Under galleys
  • As door seals
  • Stringers
